How do these two rival Phaser pedals compare?
The phaser pedal is a phase-shifting device that gives a sort of synthesized sound to the tone. Famous guitarists who have played with phasers include Jimi Hendrix, Robert Smith, Brian May, Eddie Van Halen and Frank Zappa, among countless others.
Today we're looking at the MXR Phase 90 and the Electro Harmonix Small Stone Nano. Both the Phase 90 and the Small Stone were produced in 1974 and were direct rivals.
Nowadays the stock versions of both pedals are produced with Surface Mount technology and have a true bypass switch. They are both very essential, yet effective pedals and are similarly priced with the MXR being slightly more expensive.
In our YouTube video below, I compare these two iconic pedals, going into detail about each, and perform sound tests and share my conclusions about their similarities and differences. Check it out!
These are two solid, well-built, affordable phaser modulation pedals that won't let you down.
